Reason #139
How’s THIS for an update huh? Be prepared to be (literally) blown away with a mass of information, tales, and and photos. You wont know what has hit you, only that it was awesome and it RULED.
Ok, here comes the information. The more dedicated followers out there will remember this post regarding John and his best mates Busted. Now, in a spectacular follow up I give you this link. Go there and scroll down to the fifth comment, the one beginning “THE FINALE WAS FANTASTIC” and look at the highlights of episode 5. The guy at the radio station? I KNOW HIM. Man, it’s hard having all these famous connections.
My game is going well thank you. I think I’m making it obviously contrived. Maybe. It’s not the most interesting game…probably meaning it’s not a game. But sometime soon it will be on the interweb and you all will be able to play it hopefully. Along with everyone else’s game. NEVER BE BORED AGAIN. That’s how I’ll market it.
Now, one week ago, the parents and sisterface came up to visit the Burg and I. A good time was had by all, mainly by Bella Italia who got a lot of custom from us over the week. Mid week the family checked out Inverness and Loch Ness. Go to sarahsfamilywishtheyruled.co.uk for photos. Anyway, they left on Friday but not before we went for a walk to the duckpond. Friday started off wonderfully. Clear blue skies, not to cold, not warm but then…things got nasty. Scott and I walked to meet the family to go to the duck pond, me in a skirt and by the time we got there it had started lightly snowing. By the time we left, we looked like this:
Blizzardy or what? After parents had left and Scott and I had done our Maths tutorial we decided to go see more snow now that is had stopped falling. Cue standard walk to Arthur’s Seat and beyond.
That’s Arthur’s Seat, there was much more snow on it before I took this photo. Honest. I think most of it had been sledded away. As is The Burg’s way, it always wants the best of both worlds. Just a couple of minutes round the hill and it looked like this:
Then, about 10 minutes further on there was another duckpond. Here is an artily framed photo of it.
It was a super top lovely walk.
Last night I saw Death Cab For Cutie play at the Barrowlands in Glasgow. What a very good gig. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a gig for a band who aren’t from somewhere in the UK. They also didn’t have some sort of moshy thing going on at the front. Was rather strange but still good.
“Hey, we’re a band from Seattle called Death Cab For Cutie. We’re honoured to entertain you on this Saturday night.”
How very American.
Recently I have been taking some rather cool photos with my camera phone. After having been against camera phones for a long time for their showyoffyness and higher potential to go wrong and general ridiculousness I am now appreciating mine. Here are some swish photos I would have missed.
Some very impressive snow angels on a slanted wall.
You know you’re in Scotland when: The supermarket has a Tennants aisle.
Dad karate-ing.
Horizontal scaffolding. Madness.
Motivational magnets? Parents, why didn’t you give me these as a child?
And my favourite set-as-wallpaper photo of the moment:
Hand spray painted on traffic light.
You can officially ask NO MORE from me for roughly 3 months.

WOW-EEEE!!!!! that was a goood post. and i have many things to say on the matter, just enough to do it justice.
on friday i missed all that blizzard of a snowstorm because i stayed in the warmth of my little flat! silly you for going out with a skirt - NEVER wear a skirt in scotland unless its july, and the sun is out, and you’ve already tested the weather with jeans and decided its too hot.
um, also you didn’t mention how AMAZINGLY AMAZING death cab was and the great quote of yours “i feel like i’ve revised all the right things for a test”(meaning Plans, their new album, in stores now folks) it was top knotch (yea thats how you spell it)
and tennents, yes it is our drink, i love scotland and its alcoholism!woo!
and im sorry i missed meeting your lovely family AGAIN, you look so cute in that photo where scott is the tallest heehee
and…um i think thats it..man i should really get my own website shouldn’t i?

Sarah, I speak from beyond the grave (obviously!). The picture of your father doing karate (to protect a righteous looking ice-cream based sweet course from predatory fellow diners) puts me in mind of my famous picture entitled “A Bar at the Folies Bergeres”. Both pictures contain a mirror in which can be seen an image of the background scene designed to pose questions to the viewer which can never truly be answered but which create an aura of mistique and intrigue. In my memory you might care to rename your picture “A Table at the Bella Italia”.
Edouard Manet, Paris, France
PS The lady in my picture is somewhat better looking than your father.

Am REALLY jealous of the snow you had last week. We were all hoping for at least one day off school, but no luck…we had about 10 flakes. In total.
Pictures are great, especially the 4 of you in the blizzard!
Am looking forward to seeing you at Easter.

Claire, I’m really six inches taller - as you can see I’m walking on the road and not on the pavement like the others! Sarah only looks taller than me because she’s wearing a pointy hood!
