Catch me if you can.
On Friday, in a process of about 3 hours, Scott and I managed to convince each other that we each needed a Nintendo DS Lite.
So we went to Game Station where Scott purchased his White DS and I got myself the Pink one (turns out that it was only released that day, that’s how with the fashion I am.)
Thankfully, they were good purchases and have Internet surfing capabilities and good graphics and fun games etc. I have nintendogs (beacuse I’m a girl) and my Golden Retriever, Phoebe, will Roll Over, Chase her tail and sneeze at my command. (The sneeze thing was kind of an accident, she got confused with Speak.)
Here comes the main part of the story. Being as we are students, Scott and I are always on the look out for good deals so we’ve already become pretty aware of the prices for DS games all along the various shops on Prince’s Street. As well as buying games cheap, it’s a good idea to know how much we could get for the game if we were to trade it in at a shop and get store credit so that the shop could then go on to sell it as “Pre-owned”.
We were in Virgin today and saw that a few games were on the offer of Buy On Get On Free. Excellent stuff. Unfortunately the games were terrible so we didn’t buy any.
Next on we went into GameStation where we saw one of the games, Zoo Tycoon, selling for a lot preowned, we asked how much they gave in store credit for handing in the game and they said £20. What follows here, is a lot of maths.
Buy two games in Virgin for £30, get 10% student discount: -£27
Trade in the two games at GameStation: +£40 (Store credit)
10% discount at Gamestation so £40 actually gets: +£44.44
Do the maths: +£17.44 (All be it, in store credit)
So we’ve made £17.44 for ourselves, and to be fair, we would have been spending money in GameStation anyway. Win!
Summary:
If you understood that, well done.
Scott and I are Leonardo DiCaprio.
